Tam me je pričakala Rose in razkazala mojo luksuzno nastanitev.

I finished walking on day 21 rather early, because I already managed to reach the planned location at 2 p.m. I arrived in Dayville, a small town where people turned out to be very connected. But you can read more about that later on. At around 3 p.m. I reached a small church that was to be my accommodation for the night. At the church, I was welcomed by Rose who showed me my luxurious accommodation. I was able to take a shower, I could make myself something to eat in the kitchen, I could wash and dry my laundry and I even had internet access. Something like this is simply heaven for a traveler like me. After a while, a young man entered the church and I immediately found him suspicious, because he answered all my questions in a rather mysterious way. He couldn’t tell me what he was doing in this town nor where he was going … but who am I to have a right to judge others … Towards the evening also Andrew and Kuba arrived – they were two young cyclists, also on their way from one coast to the other, but not on the same road as I.

I told you the guy was suspicious, I’m usually a good judge of character and I wasn’t wrong this time either … Andrew immediately called Rose, and she called the police, of course, and also a few members of the church and the mayor himself. In just 15 minutes, everyone was at the church and also other townspeople immediately became active, but searching was made difficult by the fact that it was already dark outside. However, after about two hours they came back with the stolen bike. The guy was so lazy that he couldn’t even ride to the next town, so he stopped at the store a bit further down from the church and he asked is someone could bring him and “his” bike to the next town!!!

Of course, the lady behind the counter already knew at that time that somebody’s bike had been stolen, so she put two and two together and she kept him occupied with the help of other townspeople until the police arrived. Anyway, all is well that ends well. You can imagine how small a town must be if even the mayor knew there was a guy in his town who is walking across America 😉

And this is how I met the mayor 🙂
